Deer Hunter in West Virginia

Well it all started on a Saturday.  I decided to go hunting in West Virginia on this day, so I got my gear and left out going to my honey hole.  Well I left the house at 7:00 am and I arrived there about 2:00 P.M. and I looked out across a field and I saw 20 deer just grazing out there.  Well it just had snowed right before I got there, you could see any deer from a country mile.  Anyway I went into town and got my deer tag for my deer, the season didn't open until Monday morning.

Well when it came Monday, I got all my stuff together and headed out into the woods for an all day hunt.  It was about 8:00 am when I first saw sign of any action, I saw four does in the bottoms.  Well I watched them for about and hour and they got spooked by something and left the area as quick as possible.  Well I decided to stay in that area until 11:00 so I did and at 11:00 I still hadn't seen anything else.

Well I decided to move, I was taking a hike up the mountain.  I reached the top at 2:00 P.M. and I looked around for some kind of signs and I saw a couple of tracks.  I found a nice open spot on the mountain looking into some thick stuff and around 3:30 P.M. I heard a grunt.  I paused for a moment and listened and I heard it again.  I got out my grunt and started grunting too, and it was about an hour and I heard something coming through the woods.

I through up my scope and saw it was a doe.  She looked tired, with her tongue hanging down and she just jolted off for some reason.  Then I saw a deer coming through the woods like a rodeo bull, it was the "BIG BOY" chasing after the doe.  The deer stopped right in front off me, with an open shot I took it.  The deer ran to the top of the ridge and looked back down one last time, and it just rolled back down the side it went up.

I waited for about 30 minutes and went to check out my trophy.  It was a monster 8-point buck with a 17 inch spread on the inside and perfect antlers with long tines.  I dressed the deer right there and headed back for the truck.

The END.
