CARBON SUIT CARE

How you take care of your carbon suit and other hunting items is very important. Listed below are some key ways to care for your suit so that it stay effective

  • Any new suit should be reactivated prior to using it
  • Once a suit has been reactivated it should go directly from the dryer into a plastic bag, carbon storage sack, or a plastic air free tub (Rubbermaid container). The suit should stay in one of these containers until you are ready to wear it out in the field, and put back in the container as soon as you are out of the woods prior to getting back in your vehicle
  • You do not wear it in the car, house, getting gas, restaurant or any other place where it can pick up foreign scent
  • Do not place scent wafers, pines boughs, dirt or any other scents in the container
  • Reactivate your suit every 4 to 6 hunts by putting it in the dryer for 20 to 30 minutes on a high setting.
  • During warm weather when you are only wearing a t-shirt as an undergarment, you should wash your suit in non-scent detergent every 10-15 hunts to remove body oils.
  • During cooler weather with multiple underlayers to soak up your body oils, washing is not necessary
  • If you are going to wear layers over your suit, they should be washed in a non-scent detergent and then treated the same way as the suit
  • Always wear clean odorless rubber boots and wear your pantlegs over the top of the boots
